About the Event
Admit it: handpainted, multicolor rovings are as seductive as chocolate. So you’ve accumulated quite a few—or are longing to do so—but you can’t quite figure out how to make the colors “sing” in the finished yarn as beautifully as they do in the roving. Come learn eight (yes, 8!!) ways to compose a symphony from the “notes” in your wool! Bring some roving you’d like to explore, or purchase some in class.
Class will cover tensioning yarns (using hands and kates) for plying; selecting rovings for spinning; chain-plying (Navajo plying); sampling techniques; color-blending techniques; fractal spinning; plying with contrasting solid and/or neutral colors; cabled yarns.
#️⃣ Ages 16 and up
✅ Some experience required: must be able to spin a continuous (if not necessarily consistent) yarn.
🧶 Bring a working spinning wheel plus 4 bobbins and some roving you’d like to explore—or purchase some in class.
